I would imagine this to be an interesting topic for reading. I've never been a waitress, myself. I don't think I would be a very good one. I would probably just get really mad at people for being so picky and rude and annoying in general.
Some people take great pleasure in being difficult to serve in restaurants. You have to be very good at acting, I think, to be a good waiter. I'm just glad I don't work in a restaurant.
update: Here is an interesting comment on that site that I just read.

why do i try to be cool? i'm such a poser
blogging is dumb. i dunno. sometimes i get tired of my blog. or other people's blogs. there are too many. too many posts. too many opinions. too many links. but, blogging is the wave of the future. perhaps the direction that the evolution of culture is just simply headed. It seems like I waste a lot of time on it. I have midterms to study for, yet spend hours reading blogs and posting to my blog.

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about. from "The Pooh Book of Quotations" by A. A. Milne

Constantine
Tonight we are going to see Constantine. It better be good, cuz I believe it will be and I don't want my hopes to be dashed! This picture is some fan art for the movie. I thought it was a neat picture.
Last night, my teeth were really hurting me and I took half a percocet. WOW! I haven't slept that well in ages! Those things are bad! Must stay away from them.

black hole
It's official: I am an incurable geek. I went to the video store with my son and my brother who wanted to rent Resident Evil 2 and Napoleon Dynamite. My teenaged sister said to get something else cuz she didn't want to watch either of those.... so what did I end up picking out for everyone's viewing pleasure? Spellbound. Yep, I'm a dork who won a spelling bee in fourth grade and want to relive that brief moment of nerdy glory, okay? So sue me!!!!1

apropos
"The Taoist . . . was a fervent advocate of 'conspicuous subtlety' in presenting oneself. He was not subtle at all about instilling in our budding minds his ' messianic' message that self-advertisement was the worst form to let others know about 'my existence.' . . . Self-initiated effort for public recognition or self-aggrandizement was the most shameful conduct for a person of virtue.
This idea is interesting and noble as a philosophical posture, but when it is practiced in America, it will not get you anywhere in most circumstances. The lack of self-assertion is translated directly into timidity and lack of self-confidence. . . . Whatever the specific reason may be, Americans are not waiting to experience you or your behaviors as they exist. They want a 'documented' version of you that is eloquently summarized, decorated, and certified. What they are looking for is not your raw, unprocessed being with rich texture; rather, it is a slickly processed self, neatly packaged and, most important, conveniently delivered to them. Self-advertising is encouraged almost to the point of pretentiousness." --from Distant Mirrors: America as a Foreign Culture (chapter 8 American Graffiti: Curious Derivatives of Individualism)

Making the most of Modesty
I do think it is tacky and offensive when I have to see girl's and women's butt-cracks and butt-floss. Save that attire for the bedroom, ladies! I wish Modesty were really in fashion-- but, alas-- sometimes it seems like the hooker look is here to stay. This article has some good points and some good comments, too. Modern men and women are obsessed with the sexual; it is the only realm of primordial adventure still left to most of us. Like apes in a zoo, we spend our energies on the one field of play remaining; human lives otherwise are pretty well caged in by the walls, bars, chains, and locked gates of our industrial culture. -Edward Abbey

new obsession of the moment
I have recently become quite preoccupied with downloading songs at iMesh. I can't stop! Help me! No, but really.... I love music, so it is pleasurable. Good to focus on things I enjoy. My blog entries are always so short. My blog is more like a scrapbook, I think.

February
Today, my boyfriend Scott started off the month by giving me a bottle of Embrace Happiness perfume. Very sweet of him. Smells just like Lancome - Aroma Tonic Body Treatment.
