The movie Crash was impactful. (har. har.)
It got me into a deep mindset.
Which somehow led me to these

be very afraid
Yesterday, we saw The Longest Yard.
It was funny.
I enjoyed it.
No complaints.
I have realized that I must start having a much healthier diet in order to improve the quality of my mood. It's like I am in a constant state of repressed panic and have adrenaline pumping through my system all the time and if someone makes a move I don't cotton to, he or she must then suffer the consequences of my fury! So, I'm going to go downstairs to get the juicer out of the garage and this morning we will go to the Farmer's Market and buy a bunch of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. This is not a matter of idealism or morals. It is purelyin an effort to help my body stop freaking out on a constant basis. I think I'm hypoglycemic or something.

the sky is falling
Today was an early birthday celebration for me.
I got a new birthday outfit from Scott.
Also, I got a brand new baby hermit crab so Homer and Marge can have a little bundle of joy all their own.... hermit crabs do not breed in captivity, apparently... and they had been their biological clocks have been ticking.

blogging ecosystem
yesterday we saw a young bear. it was awesome,
but i couldn't react quickly enough to get a picture
before he ran away as we drove by.
i like that cotton haired look that scarlett johansen
started and then christina aguilera picked up.
of course, you could argue that someone else
started it, but it doesn't matter, really.
nobody really cares, anyway, i'd imagine.
Culture of Celebrity and Weblogs
because, is blogging just a popularity contest?

pointless
paris + paris
this is my first attempt to post a video on my blog.
albeit, the video is not my own, but that is okay.
I would like to add that I feel for Britney Spears at this time.
She's young and not the sharpest pencil in the box about a lot of things.
I hope that she continues with counseling and that she is perhaps able to go to her friend Madonna and learn something about something Kabbala-esque.
i know that it is lame for me to even think about this, but these people
are archetypal images of things that go on in each of us.
it's like these celebrities are magnified images of american culture which reflect back to us our whacked out system of values in this world. or at least, a large number of people's whacked out system of values.

today was not so horrible. i got my deposit back finally from my old landlord, even though I gave my 30-day notice in February! man, it seems like i always get the shaft! it's my own fault, though. i invite it. today, we watched a really educational movie (and by educational, i mean a little boring, but kind of interesting) called Conspiracy with Kenneth Branagh. It's about the methodical and endless meetings that went on in Nazi Germany regarding how best to fully eliminate the Jews from the human gene pool. Very insane. Speaking of insane: we also watched Happiness. Wow. It was a good movie, in my opinion, but it deals with some disturbing topics such as pedophilia. not for the squeamish, but it's handled well. it is more interesting to me on the level that it's the kind of crap that goes on every day all over the world. Michael Stipe sings the closing song, so that's a bonus. anyway, i think i'll watch seinfeld for the rest of my waking hours this day.Insanity -- a perfectly rational adjustment to an insane world. -- R. i can't wait!
Tilda Swinton as the White Witch!
The trailer looks magical.
Watched Maria Full of Grace last night.
It was good. It did seem very real
and it was emotionally engaging.
Also interesting. I recommend it.

My son was named after Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird.

what is art?
one of the things i have often thought is that people who are super super super critical of every single film they watch-- people who never enjoy a movie.... what the heck is their problem?
i mean?
i'd like to see them make a better movie.
show me what movie you made that was so much better.
or at least, instead of just fully bashing every movie you see: how about telling us about the great movies that are so much better and more mind-blowing for you. I wanna watch those movies. Make your recommendations.
Cuz I watch a lot of movies. my expectations are pretty low. i am usually happy if the movie doesn't bore me to tears, but really.... isn't everything up to the observer to make it interesting or not interesting? isn't it all out there?

idealism
At least two-thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity: idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religous or political ideas. Aldous Huxley (1894 - 1963)people around Arcata are unrealistic and idealistic. if they got their way, we'd all be screwed. one example is recycling. recycling of plastic causes more harm than good. another issue is with GMOs. everyone around here is against genetically modified foods, but do they really even know why? I overheard some people recently saying that food is going to become a scarcity within the next fifteen years. I looked around for some information on this. I found an article that talks about why GM food is not as harmful as some people think. I just don't like it when people blindly tout some cause that they pretty much know nothing about. that happens a lot around here. a lot of these quasi-hippies, faux homeless. it's a strange attitude. getting back to nature doesn't mean we should look and act like Sasquatch. anyway, whatever. i have no clue what i'm talking about either, but i can admit that, at least. Idealism is what precedes experience; cynicism is what follows. David T. Wolf (1943 - ) Enough Food for Everyone? A New Agriculture
