I've been reading a little on the message boards at the american idol website. Everyone has their opinions, but it looks like there is some general agreement that Aloha, Lindsey, and Celena were not the best last night. My problem is that I like all of the girls. I don't care if they didn't blow me away last night. I think they are all talented and unique and cool in their own ways. I will hate to see any of the girls go tonight. Based on their performances last night, how I feel about them in general (including their past performances), and some other random factors-- I think that Lindsey and Celena should be voted off. I am afraid, though, that Janay may be voted off. I like her, though. I think she is cute, cool, and real. She has a lot of potential and I consider her to be the underdog in the competition. Carrie Underwood made a huge mistake in her song choice. It was just too ambitious. Not sure if she deserves credit for that or not. One thing I like about this competition is that the judges (Simon in particular) just have to tell the truth. Cut through the b.s. Yes, Simon can be tactless, but he says what everyone already knows deep down if they'll just admit it. What good does it do to deceive the contestants or ourselves. If the performance sucked-- say so!

personally, i liked 'ScarJo's' look at the Oscars. One thing that I think is lame is that we are still making such a big deal out of "blacks" winning awards. Come on people! What century is this? I guess it goes to show that we aren't very enlightened as a country... but I guess that's not really news, now is it?

my idol opinion

Ok, not that anyone really cares-- I'm not even sure if I care.... but here is my schpeel on A.I. tonight. I liked Travis Tucker's performance. Scott said the same thing Simon said. He wasn't the best singer, but he had a good performance. It was entertaining at least. Nikko Smith was pretty good. I wonder if they skipped part of the song, though, cuz he didn't really sing all the lyrics. Bo Bice-- a true rebel, right? Got fired from his job to stay in the competition. He's a little strange, but it was good. Authentic... like Simon said. Everyone else left much to be desired, if you ask me. ;-) Seacrest, out. oops, I am not Seacrest. Sorry. got Carrie'd away.

I used to love these books. I had them all when I was a kid, they'd been passed on from my Aunt Jeannie. I love Raggedy Ann dolls, too. Raggedy Ann is so awesome. The stories are wonderful.

the oscars are on this sunday. it's funny cuz i happened upon this article and it's true! I have been wanting to see all of those movies, but, I just haven't ever ACTUALLY done it. I'm such a procrastinator, though. I mean, I do want to see them. I will, eventually! right? yeah. it's just cuz Americans are too distracted. i've seen Sideways and Ray, which were both good.

American Idol r00lz! Seriously. I love it. The people are really very talented. Do you know how hard it would be to do what they are doing? Really? I mean, can you imagine having to perform AFTER you have been eliminated??????????????? They are having an amazing experience. It's a terrific opportunity for each person who is in the competition to have exposure to what it is really all about in that business, y'know? I know that I could not do it, myself! I would just break down and cry. You have to have an almost pathological amount of faith in your talent and ability to withstand that amount of rejection and criticism and still keep believing in yourself! I think it's a great show! I hate when it's over and can't wait until the next show!

waiter rant

I would imagine this to be an interesting topic for reading. I've never been a waitress, myself. I don't think I would be a very good one. I would probably just get really mad at people for being so picky and rude and annoying in general. Some people take great pleasure in being difficult to serve in restaurants. You have to be very good at acting, I think, to be a good waiter. I'm just glad I don't work in a restaurant. update: Here is an interesting comment on that site that I just read.

why do i try to be cool? i'm such a poser blogging is dumb. i dunno. sometimes i get tired of my blog. or other people's blogs. there are too many. too many posts. too many opinions. too many links. but, blogging is the wave of the future. perhaps the direction that the evolution of culture is just simply headed. middle eastern culture

I am enjoying my Middle Eastern Culture class. We have begun by learning about Islam. We have listened to someone reciting verses from the Koran. My teacher hesitates a lot while he is talking-- trying to find the right words for such a vast and touchy subject. Some students seem to be impatient with this and interrupt to finish his sentences for him. I respect it, though, because to me it shows that he is putting a lot of thought into how he says things. It's not that he doesn't know what he's talking about.... he just wants to be as concise as possible. I look forward to learning more in this class.

I didn't watch the Inaugural Address. I am the embodiment of the disenchanted/disaffected. I did see a snippet of the praying part and felt that it was SO WRONG! What is this-- CHURCH? Come on! It's like totally saying that you have to be Christian! I mean, a lot of people in the United States are not Christian. I enjoy having freedom of religion. Not IMPOSED CHURCH! Sorry; it peeves me. What is it saying? What message does this send? Perhaps it is true... politics and religion go together like (insert lame cliche here). "I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. Perhaps this is a New Year's kick I am on. I intend to include more sauerkraut and kimchee in my diet in the coming months.
