Over spring break,
instead of reading 8 chapters
for my Middle Eastern Cultures class,
I made eight sock monkeys.
Don't you think that is worth something?
It should be.
I would rather make sock monkeys than read a bunch of
history and politics and stuff.
At the same time, I would like also to pass my classes and get a degree. Typical American.

Back to the Old Grind
Today is the first day
back to school
after Spring Break.
I am sort of glad to go back,
but also, a little hesitant.
I haven't done much studying
at all over Spring Break....
so it will be hard to put myself
back into that mode again.
But, it's gotta be done.
Just Breathe.....
It won't be so bad, right?

monkey monkey monkey
I went to the zoo and it wasn't bad at all, really. I actually quite enjoyed it and am ready to go back, but it's closed now. I hope I get a chance to go back tomorrow. It totally rules that there are awesome spider monkeys and gibbons just chillin over there. They were cool to watch.

procrastination is what should've killed the cat
Today it is raining with no sign of stopping anytime soon.
I am supposed to go to the zoo and observe monkeys scratching their butts or whatever it is that they may be doing.
I really am not looking forward to spending two hours in the rain.
Not one little itty bitty teeny weeny bit.
Of course, I've known about this assignment for months, and I've known that it would be due when I return from Spring Break....
and I still procrastinated it until the very last possible minute.
And now, it's raining. Most likely the monkeys will just be sleeping in their enclosures and I will be up a creek without a paddle-- so to speak.
Woe is me!!!!!

i was trying to download the beatles' song From Me to You and I couldn't find a version that was available but I found a version by Bobby McFerrin, a Spanish Version by Ricky Gianco and a French Version by Claude Francois. Those were all cool and fun to listen to, though.

I liked the song that Amanda Avila sang. It was risky. At first I wondered if she would wreck the song, but I don't think she did. I didn't even know that Tina Turner sang that song... I remember it as an Erasure song. Janay should be eliminated this round. She wasn't HORRIBLE in my opinion, but not as good as all the rest, I'd say. She's not a strong singer. Carrie Underwood won't be voted out. It will be Janay and Lindsay, I think. Lindsay doesn't have enough charisma to carry her through this competition. Nadia has charisma, although I really didn't like her performance last night. I thought Ryan's shirt was strange. Anyway, I had more fun watching the girls than I did the guys. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

From me to you
I always think of cool things that I think would be good to blog about.
But my mind wanders and it all just swims downstream.
Then Blogger won’t work right and I totally get sidetracked and start looking at Celebrity Fashion Faux pas.
What was it that I thought would be so cool to blog about?
“To blog” a strange new phrase.
my boyfriend loves Fear Factor. It is not my cup of tea, particularly.
Baser matter.
Last night I was barely able to watch American Idol at all, which is okay— (I’m not really all that into the guys this season, anyway, for whatever reason).
While I was trying to watch the show, my son was singing to me his covers of all the songs on Green Day’s American Idiot cd.
Truly, Atticus’ singing brought a tear to my eye. It was adorable.
Here are some notes.
But first….
Today, I’ve been attacked by miserable allergies.
Lots of cough drops…. They start to get yucky.
My sister has re-vamped her blog and it’s really cute! I love it and you will, too.
Okay, my opinions regarding the guys last night on A.I. (I call it that, now):
1. Scott: Simon is right…. Amateurish. He’s been in the competition long enough. He’s outta there! Ghandi. Buh-bye.
2. As I sit with notebook and pencil recording random impressions, I realize I had some faith in Bo, but tonight he was reminiscent of a decent karaoke singer. Nothing more. Well, maybe a wedding singer.
3. Anthony Federov—meh. He’s like Bill Gates up there singing. He did his Ricky Martin impression—I mean, maybe he has some talent, but I’m just not feelin’ it. Even Simon said that.
4. Simon is right. (about everything) ;-)
I am beginning to think I watch the show just to see Simon?
5. Nikko Smith at least is conceivable as a performer. Travis Tucker’s singing was not impressive.
6. my boyfriend is a really good judge of American Idol.
7. Mario Vazquez was good-“ish” It was Okay. Like a theme park dude, as Simon put it.
8. Constantine was at least interesting. I liked the song.
9. Anwar Robinson is good.
10. I should totally be doing homework right now.
I think this is the most links i've ever had in one post!

You're Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!

After stumbling down the wrong turn in life, you've had your mind
opened to a number of strange and curious things. As life grows curiouser and curiouser,
you have to ask yourself what's real and what's the picture of illusion. Little is coming
to your aid in discerning fantasy from fact, but the line between them is so blurry that
it's starting not to matter. Be careful around rabbit holes and those who smile to much,
and just avoid hat shops altogether.

What is this Jebus thing all about?
It annoys me... and the fact that Homer even said it on The Simpsons the other night was just the last straw. I must know how this started and what is its significance?

you will have the highest suicide rate.
in the movies,
dentists get a pretty bad rap.
Yesterday, I went to the dentist and I was not looking forward to it (big surprise), but it ended up going quite smoothly and I told the dentist after he was done that i thought he'd done a good job. it was quick and painless.... just how i like it.

Tell it like it is, Simon!
I've been reading a little on the message boards at the american idol
website. Everyone has their opinions, but it looks like there is some general agreement that Aloha, Lindsey, and Celena were not the best last night. My problem is that I like all of the girls. I don't care if they didn't blow me away last night. I think they are all talented and unique and cool in their own ways. I will hate to see any of the girls go tonight.
Based on their performances last night, how I feel about them in general (including their past performances), and some other random factors-- I think that Lindsey and Celena should be voted off. I am afraid, though, that Janay may be voted off. I like her, though. I think she is cute, cool, and real. She has a lot of potential and I consider her to be the underdog in the competition.
Carrie Underwood made a huge mistake in her song choice. It was just too ambitious.
Not sure if she deserves credit for that or not.
One thing I like about this competition is that the judges (Simon in particular) just have to tell the truth. Cut through the b.s. Yes, Simon can be tactless, but he says what everyone already knows deep down if they'll just admit it. What good does it do to deceive the contestants or ourselves. If the performance sucked-- say so!

more op/eds
personally, i liked 'ScarJo's' look at the Oscars. One thing that I think is lame is that we are still making such a big deal out of "blacks" winning awards. Come on people! What century is this? I guess it goes to show that we aren't very enlightened as a country... but I guess that's not really news, now is it?
