mega-corporations: good or evil?

i know a lot of people don't like mega-corporations such as walmart-- especially around here in humboldt county. this is currently a hotly debated topic. but where does it end? what would we have to give up if places like walmart were forced to stop doing what they do? we trade one thing for another.
