Rick Astley!
When I was a freshman in high school I totally loved Rick Astley! For some reason that just popped into my head today and it is fun to reminisce! "If there's anything you need... there's always somethin' I can do... because you satisfy everything in me. ......Together forever and never to part. Together forever we two, and don't you know I would move heaven and earth..... "

had to share
I found this on someone else's blog. I cannot reveal my sources which are top secret. (see tagboard) It is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

My ethnography teacher says that a palm pilot is an anthropologist's best friend. Now, I want one. I don't know which one would be the best to suit my purposes.

incredibly annoying
There is someone sitting next to me in the computer lab eating Sunchips. I can hear her chewing them and it is really bothering me. I think it is so rude and inconsiderate. You are not even supposed to eat in the computer labs. She must be a freshman. I really would love to tell her to stop. Here are some funny comments from other people who feel this way.

middle eastern culture
I am enjoying my Middle Eastern Culture class. We have begun by learning about Islam. We have listened to someone reciting verses from the Koran. My teacher hesitates a lot while he is talking-- trying to find the right words for such a vast and touchy subject. Some students seem to be impatient with this and interrupt to finish his sentences for him. I respect it, though, because to me it shows that he is putting a lot of thought into how he says things. It's not that he doesn't know what he's talking about.... he just wants to be as concise as possible. I look forward to learning more in this class.

separation of church and state
I didn't watch the Inaugural Address. I am the embodiment of the disenchanted/disaffected. I did see a snippet of the praying part and felt that it was SO WRONG! What is this-- CHURCH? Come on! It's like totally saying that you have to be Christian! I mean, a lot of people in the United States are not Christian. I enjoy having freedom of religion. Not IMPOSED CHURCH! Sorry; it peeves me. What is it saying? What message does this send? Perhaps it is true... politics and religion go together like (insert lame cliche here). "I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death. " --George Carlin

the year in review
Once again-- let's all dis' the stars for their silly extravagance. I wonder how much these outfits actually cost! Well, hey, you gotta give 'em props for originality, right?

is this sad?
I am happy that tonight I am going to watch That 70's Show, The Simpsons, American Idol, Committed and Scrubs. It's just a comfort for some reason. I also find comfort in going to the ocean.

the final frontier
Click on the picture of a fractal if you want to see the Astronomy Picture of the Day at NASA. Just for a little bit of perspective on life. Today is my first day of classes for the new semester. Whoopee! I have been feeling so bored and useless. Now, I can be all excited and buy new textbooks and see who's in all my classes and stuff.

I think it'll be Kate
Looking forward to the Golden Globes :-) I can't believe I haven't seen Finding Neverland, yet! ...or Sideways. I've been totally meaning to, but there are always too many movies and not enough time and money, I guess. Between Jamie Foxx and Johnny Depp.... well, I saw Ray and loved it. Johnny Depp is just awesome. There are probably more factors of which I am unaware.

more health related foods
Perhaps this is a New Year's kick I am on. I intend to include more sauerkraut and kimchee in my diet in the coming months. The way I figure, if I do less of the stuff that makes me unhappy and more stuff that makes me happy, the better off I'll be? Does that sound like it makes sense? Sometimes the simplest of things can make the most sense.

wah!
"I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth." Umberto Eco I haven't had computer access for a while. Also, I'm not feeling very well, really. I'm going to the doctor today and then I should be all better! That is all.

one question
Why is it that radio stations overplay a song until everyone hates it? I'm talking about Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. You know? It's just wrong to ruin perfectly good songs by overplaying them into oblivion. end rant.

syzygy?
The Syzygy (Divine Couple)
If one comes to terms with the Shadow and the Soul, one will encounter the enchanted castle with its King and Queen. This is a pattern of wholeness and integration. The opposites of the outer and the inner life are now joined in marriage. Great power arises from this integration. Christ and the Church, God and Israel are syzygy images. The believer who aspires to be the "bride of Christ" is modeling his or her experience in response to the syzygy archetype.

what to write about
I could think of nothing that I felt a burning desire to talk about. So, I decided to click "Next Blog" for a random bit of inspiration, perhaps. Sometimes my life seems boring. I was going to talk about my Wine-Tasting adventure in Sonoma County with Scott yesterday-- which was really a lot of fun. Happy New Year.
