for hermit crabs, molting is a stressful time
and the crabs are vulnerable to attack from
other crabs, or death just because they
get too upset for whatever reason.
they are sensitive.
i can relate.
it's hard to understand exactly why i am so
inexorably drawn to watching more and more
curb your enthusiasm.
larry david's character is like a car wreck.
i remember thinking that George Costanza embarrassed me,
but that he was starting to become my favorite character. i feel like there is nothing i can say to really understand what is so fascinating to me about these shows. i think it has something to do with the idea that it doesn't matter what you do, it's going to be wrong if it's wrong or right if it's right. but, that is not profound.
i think there is actually a lot of humor in pointing out the ways that we deceive ourselves into thinking we have more control than we really do and how much of a mess we make of things in trying to control outcomes and reactions and situations and all of that. at the same time, being able to take a humorous look at it sort of makes you feel a little bit of compassion for yourself and everyone else for being such an idiot. because, we all are. it's like einstein said: "There are only two things that are infinite: the universe and human stupidity... and I'm not sure about the universe."
