i understand the history of psychiatry!

I'm saying that drugs aren't the answer, these drugs are very dangerous. They're mind-altering, antipsychotic drugs. And there are ways of doing it without that so that we don't end up in a brave new world. --Tom Cruise
okay, he's being lame. he's really being a butthead. but, i sort of agree with the above point that he was making. he just seems to be offending too many people. my son's second-grade teacher once thought i should have him checked for ADHD. i went to the doctor and told him this. the doctor whipped out his prescription pad right then and there prepared to write out a prescription for Ritalin. I said to him: "is that ethical? i mean, shouldn't we refer him to a psychiatrist first or do some tests?" the doctor: "oh, you're probably right" OY VEY! so, the psychiatrist said that my son did not have ADHD at all, that was obvious to him right away. it's just that my son was bored with the class because it was not challenging to him. and the pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in making sure we are all on some pill or another for the rest of our lives if they had their way. why so many people who need to be medicated? what would be the reason for that? ah, who cares. just treat the symptom and get them back on that treadmill! time is money!
